About
Our Story
My name is Ashleianne Wymarra I am a Gamilaroi, Ngunawal, Gudang Yadhaykenu, Wakidth Woman both Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander.

Mirii Yanan Meaning shooting star in my Gamilaraay language is an online store to showcase and sell my hand woven pieces. Mirii Yanan Weaving also provides weaving workshops and programs. Weaving builds connection and strengthens identity to Aboriginal culture. Weaving is not only a creative expression but a therapeutic activity which offers mindfulness and meditation. Our weaving workshops also provide cultural awareness and Indigenous education for all.

The journey of weaving started with learning from my Gamilaroi Nan Pam our family elder and matriarch. We weave together by sharing and revitalising culture for ourselves and others in our family business created by my father bob at Konanggo Aboriginal Cultural Heritage Services (KACHS).

Weaving and culture to me is healing. It is very therapeutic and a special matriarchal practice within our Aboriginal culture.
